How to Make a CV on Your Phone for Free (No App Needed)

4 min read Updated By Free CV Maker

You don't need a laptop to make a professional CV. With a free online CV maker that runs in your phone's browser, you can create a CV, edit your old one and download a PDF in a few minutes — without installing an app or creating an account.

Why use your browser instead of a CV app?

  • Nothing to install: save storage space and skip app permissions.
  • No sign-up: many CV apps ask for an account or payment before you can download. Free CV Maker doesn't.
  • Private: your CV is processed on your phone and isn't uploaded to our servers.
  • ATS-friendly PDF: the downloaded file contains real text that recruiters' software can read.

How to make your CV on a phone: step by step

Step 1: Open Free CV Maker

Open Chrome (Android) or Safari (iPhone) and go to freecvmaker.site.

Step 2: Upload your old CV or start fresh

Tap Upload & edit old CV and choose a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file from your phone, Files app or Google Drive. The form fills in automatically. No old CV? Tap Create a CV from scratch.

Step 3: Fill in each section

Add your personal details, a short summary, your work experience, education and skills. In the achievements box, each new line becomes a bullet point. Need ideas? See our CV summary examples and skills for your CV.

Step 4: Check the preview

Tap Preview at the bottom of the screen to see your CV on an A4 page. Look for spelling mistakes and make sure dates are consistent.

Step 5: Download your CV as a PDF

Tap Download PDF. Your CV is saved straight to your phone:

  • Android: open the Files app or Chrome's menu and choose Downloads.
  • iPhone: open the Files app and look in Downloads, or tap the download icon in Safari's address bar.

Step 6: Send it

Attach the PDF to an email, upload it to a job portal or share it on WhatsApp. Use a clear file name such as Ali-Raza-CV.pdf.

Tips for making a CV on mobile

  • Keep going later: your draft is saved in your phone's browser, so you can close the page and come back in the same browser.
  • Add it to your home screen: in Chrome or Safari, use “Add to Home screen” for quick access.
  • Write in short bullet points: they're easier to type and easier for recruiters to read.
  • Check on a bigger screen if you can: a final look on a laptop or tablet helps you spot layout issues.

Troubleshooting

The download doesn't start

Make sure you're online the first time you download, because the PDF component loads when you need it. If your browser asks whether to download the file, tap Download.

My CV is in Arabic or Urdu

For non-Latin scripts, the download opens your phone's print screen instead. On Android, choose Save as PDF as the printer. On iPhone, tap the share icon in the print options and choose Save to Files.

My old CV didn't import properly

Photos or scans of a CV can't be read. Use a text-based PDF or a Word file, and check each section after importing.
