Below you will find a complete teacher CV example, three professional summaries, ready-made bullet points and the skills employers search for. You can open the example in our free CV maker and replace the details with your own.

How to write a teacher CV: 4 tips

Lead with results, not duties

“Taught English to grade 9” tells a school nothing new. “Raised the grade 9 pass rate from 78% to 93%” shows you are effective.

Name the curriculum

Mention the board or system you know — Matric/FSc, Cambridge O/A Level, IB, CBSE or the national curriculum of the country you are applying to.

Show the full picture of school life

Clubs, sports days, exam invigilation and parent meetings prove you contribute beyond your own lessons.

Applying to the Gulf?

Add your nationality, visa status and whether your degrees are attested. International schools also ask for the number of years of experience after your teaching qualification.

Job titles this CV example works for

The same structure works for related roles, including: School Teacher, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, English Teacher, Math Teacher, Maths Teacher, Science Teacher, Subject Teacher, Class Teacher. Change the headline, summary and keywords to match the exact title in the job advert.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a teacher CV be?

One page is enough for teachers with up to five years of experience. Two pages is fine if you have a longer career, publications or leadership roles.

What should a fresh graduate teacher put on a CV?

Lead with your B.Ed or subject degree, then describe your teaching practicum like a job: school, grades, number of lessons and what you achieved. Add tutoring, volunteering and any training courses.

Should I include a photo on a teacher CV?

It depends on the country. Schools in Pakistan and the Gulf often expect a professional photo, while schools in the UK, US and Canada prefer no photo.
